Between the two doors

There are moments in life when it feels like we are standing between two doors.

One is the old life.

The old thinking.

The old habits.

The old version of ourselves.

And the other is something new.

A new chapter.

A new mindset.

A new way of living, believing, and showing up in the world.

Between the two doors of the past and future

The strange thing is, even when we know we no longer belong behind the old door, stepping fully through the new one can still feel difficult.

Why?

Because the mind loves what is familiar.

Even if the old patterns caused stress, disappointment, self-doubt, or limitation, they were known.

Comfortable.

Predictable.

And our paradigms - the deeply rooted beliefs and conditioning we’ve carried for years - do not disappear overnight simply because we decide we want a different life.

When we begin working on ourselves, our mindset, our health, our confidence, or our dreams, we often imagine that change will feel exciting all the time.

Sometimes it does. But sometimes it feels uncomfortable, uncertain, and even lonely.

Old thoughts can suddenly return.

Old fears can rise up.

Old reactions can challenge us in weak moments.

That does not mean we are failing.

It simply means the old programming is still trying to survive.

I once realized something important: once you walk through a door, you can never truly go back. The old version of you no longer fits the same way. Even if you tried, something inside you has already changed.

So perhaps the real question is not:

“Why can’t I go back?”

Maybe the question is:

“What am I afraid will happen if I fully step forward?”

Growth asks us to trust before we feel ready.

Healing asks us to release what once defined us.

Transformation asks us to become unfamiliar to ourselves for a little while. And maybe that space between the two doors is not a place of being stuck at all.

Maybe it is the place where we are becoming.
