Have you ever had someone question your motives and then continue to tell what you should be doing? So often we try to help our loved ones, be it a family member or friend, with words of advice and encouragement if we think they are messing up, not living up to our standards, or if we think they are walking down the wrong path in life. Usually we are not helping; we're interfering!
When it comes to our children we need to let them go at some point so they can discover their path in this world we call life. Yes, we brought them into this world and are responsible for them and should be there to pick them up when they fall off the path, but there comes a time when we have to let them go. I remember a friend telling me once that by the time our children are about 16 years old, we have pretty much taught them all we can; sounds right to me.
It is when we see ourselves in our children that we want to share our wisdom with them so they don't screw up like we did but this is when we need to step back and give them the space to tenderly walk forward and take on the responsibility of their own life. We may not agree with what they are doing but we need to support those 100% with their decisions. This is a hard thing to do, especially when we believe in our heart that they’re making a mistake. Guess what? It’s none of our business! As human beings, we want to always make it right for others...but it’s our standards that we want them to live by; how fair is that?
We are all here on this earth to live our own life, not the life of others. We are here to serve others, but more importantly, to live our lives to the fullest through love and happiness. We need to realize that the families we are in and the people we meet are here for reasons beyond our comprehension. People come in to our lives for a reason, season or lifetime, either to learn from us or for us to learn from them, or to simply walk beside us. We each get to choose how we want to live our life and these choices will bring us what we ask for and focus on. To experience our journey in love and happiness, this is the ultimate goal for each and every one of us.
What are you doing to live your life to the fullest? It's all about choice. Focus on what will bring you joy, peace, love and happiness and go for it!
I wish you a great day! (unless you choose otherwise :o)
